TCC Program Addresses Court Reporter Shortage


A critical shortage of court reporters across Oklahoma has spurred the development of a new 18-month course at Tulsa Community College. The Court Reporting Certificate Program, which has six 11-week modules, begins Tuesday and ends in June 2019. Allison Hall, a court reporter for the past 18 years who will be teaching the class, said the shortage nearly guarantees that a job will be waiting for anyone who completes the program and passes the certification exam. With an annual salary around $45,000 a year, the career consistently ranks as having one of the top earning potentials without requiring a four-year degree, she said.
