Although we have many good judges in San Diego County, most were appointed by a governor and have never faced an election. This results in a lack of accountability. There are no court reporters in civil, probate and family law courtrooms, resulting in judicial decisions that are virtually impossible to appeal without a court reporter making a transcript. Judges who are never challenged and their decisions never challenged is a dangerous combination for the people. Our courts need to be held accountable to the people like all other public officials.
